READ THIS about what to use on a fretboard:
I've had a few comments about this treatment I want to address. First off, if you think Murphy's is crap, then don't use it. Perhaps people are confused about how I use it. It is a cleaner, and used with steel wool it strips the fretboard of all ground in dirt and opens the pores on the wood, nicely prepping it for whatever wood conditioner you use as your next step. I am not claiming Murphy's is being used to "condition" or hydrate the wood! I think the results shows in the video speak for themselves....

Second, after doing research, most commercially available guitar "lemon oil" products are actually just mineral oil with a lemon scent. And from my experience, most only work so-so.

Sometimes I will take a couple walnuts and rub them on a fretboard, as they release the walnut oil, and that seems to work pretty well. (I made a video of it here: [ Ссылка ].) Also I sometimes use BORE oil and it works pretty well. One product I have not yet tried but seems to get good reviews is Music Nomad F-One oil, which apparently is a mix of tree and seed oils!

Here's how you can clean a rosewood, Pau Ferro, or ebony guitar or bass fretboard/fingerboard. (Do not try on an all maple neck.) Murphy's Oil Soap Wood Cleaner is cheap! (the 32 oz. bottle in the link below will last a LONG time).

Pair it with some "#0000" (four aught) super fine steel wool and you're set. Original version has a nice "citronella" scent (smells like oranges to me), natural ingredients, and you can use it to clean your wood floors when you're done! cheers
