By 2025 we will need to build 1 billion new homes globally, and roughly 60% of buildings that will exist then are yet to be built. The effects of buildings on the climate crisis must be taken seriously and addressed immediately to ensure the wellbeing of future generations.
Kuala Lumpur, Quezon City and Jakarta are turning strategies into wider implementation, with bold climate policies and actions to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, creating resilient and liveable cities for their residents. With the funding from the UK government and in collaboration with C40 Cities, these cities are addressing the climate crisis through transformational climate action implementation to enhance energy efficiency and expand the adoption of renewable energy in buildings.
