With so much stigma attached to it, Strangles can be a difficult thing to talk about so we are very lucky to have two horse owners, Angie and Michelle, sharing their lived experiences.
Hosted by Redwings Horse Sanctuary for Strangles Awareness Week 2021, this podcast is for anyone who has been affected or is looking to find out more about the equine disease Strangles.
Angie’s three horses were affected after she purchased a Shetland foal and Michelle’s horse contracted the disease after changing yards. They’ll discuss the hardships and stress they faced, the lessons learned and the positive outcomes of their experience with Strangles.
Disclaimer: these are personal recollections from individuals and are not veterinary advice. If you suspect a case of Strangles, please refer to your vet for any clinical advice and treatment.
What’s your experience of the disease? Join the conversation in the comments below. And if you have any questions/queries you want answered, please write them below and we’ll do our best to answer them.
