If we view our standards against the standard defined by the #agilemanifesto, we can sometimes fall short. Things like technical debt being an industry-wide problem, just shouldn't be there. Things like cutting a corner this sprint because we can allocate time down the line to do it properly shouldn't be in our team vocabulary, but it is.
Think about a neurosurgeon and their team. What happens if they decide to just forget about the missing scalpel? What happens if they decide to just overlook the bleeding on the brain and address it when the client raises it as an issue?
We've got to up our standards. We've got to do better. In this short video, John McFadyen talks about the difference between a surgeon team and a scrum team, and how we can learn a great deal from them.
