Scotland and Motherwell legend James McFadden burst onto the scene in 2000 as a rat-tail-haired teenager, quickly making a name for himself as an explosive and skilful attacker who scored sensational goals. His ability to run with the ball at his feet and take players on was matched by his pace and power, and he became a Motherwell hero thanks to strikes like the one against Rangers on Boxing Day in 2002 which secured Motherwell's first victory over the Ibrox side in seven attempts. McFadden left Motherwell for successful spells at Everton and Birmingham, becoming a hero at international level in the process, but returned for a second-spell in Lanarkshire in 2013 following a series of bad injuries. He showed that he had lost none of his ability as he rediscovered his brilliant best, cementing his place as an all-time great at Fir Park.
