Scientists in India have found that wastewater testing can predict a wave of COVID-19 infections a month before symptoms start to show. Researchers started their wastewater sampling at the start of this year in the cities of Jaipur and Nagpur. They could trace the virus outbreaks from samples taken at sewage treatment plants, as well as at open sewers elsewhere in the cities.
