If a digital vaccine passport assists in keeping national borders open, then the tourism industry is “all for it”, says Australian Tourism Industry Council Executive Director Simon Westaway.
New South Wales is among those voicing interest in the idea of a digital vaccine passport which could prohibit a person from entering a venue if they have refused a COVID-19 jab.
“The great thing is that the travel industry works through crises and has dealt with a lot of problematic issues over the years,” Mr Westaway told Sky News.
“We just need a fair go here, and if they – a digital passport around your vaccination – assists in keeping borders open we’re all for it quite frankly.
“Particularly if it’s an app based technology which would just sit on your mobile phone.”
