Thousands are protesting the Spanish prime minister's proposed talks on Catalonia. The government is considering appointing a mediator for talks to address the Catalan crisis. Critics called that surrender to pressure from Catalan separatists and are now demanding early elections. The protest comes just two days before the trial of 12 Catalan leaders over their role in the region's failed bid for independence.
