A British-Belgian teenager has become the youngest person to fly solo around the world after landing in Bulgaria on August 24, five months and one day after starting his journey.
Mack Rutherford was 17 years and 64 days old when he landed his plane in the Bulgarian capital Sofia on Wednesday, according to a post on his Macksolo Facebook page. He completed the journey in 142 days, visiting 30 countries on four continents, according to the post.
Rutherford, whose parents are both pilots, broke two records, becoming the youngest person to fly around the world solo, and the youngest person to fly around the world solo in an Ultra Light aircraft, the post said. The latter of the records was previously held by his sister, Zara Rutherford.
