🚩 Hull geometry - Part 9
🔸 Section: line resulting from the intersection of the hull and a vertical plane perpendicular to the hull's plane of symmetry.
🔸 Buttock: line resulting from the intersection of the hull and a vertical plane parallel to the hull's plane of symmetry.
🔸 Waterline: line resulting from the intersection of the hull and a horizontal plane parallel to the still water surface.
🔸 Diagonal: line obtained by cutting the hull longitudinally in an inclined plane, which is, as much as possible, at right angles to the hull's surface.
Diagonals are the paths the water theoretically follows when the yacht is moving through the water surface, and they are an indication of the hull's longitudinal smoothness.
