The World Health Organization (WHO) has urged Pakistan to implement an “intermittent” lockdown, after it recorded over 5,000 new cases in the past 24 hours -- its highest single-day spike to date. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has resisted a nationwide lockdown, arguing that the country's economy could not afford it. The WHO has recommended lockdowns in a two-weeks-on and two-weeks-off cycle to balance between health and economic concerns.
