Disney's Aladdin - A Musical Spectacular, was California Adventure's premier stage show, hosted in the 2000 seat Hyperion Theater in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot. It's based on Disney's 1992 animated feature, and was performed from 2003 to early 2016.
It's a whopping 45 minutes long, probably the longest of any Disney Attraction. (The Indy Stunt Show is 40 minutes, but most other live performance shows are 30 minutes or less.) I was there in the off season (September, after labor day), and the show was held three time a day, two days a week.
I had preferred seating, something that came with the package I had, but by the time I got there, the preferred seating was full, so it's up to the balcony with you!
Now, the show is 45 minutes long, I'm on the 9th day of a 17-day road trip, it's late on the third (and final) day at Disneyland Resort, this is the fifth hour of video tape at Disneyland Resort I'm taping (the 9th hour overall) almost all of it hand held, and I had never seen this show before, and I could only tape it once.
And the camera only weighs 2 pounds, but trying to hold two pounds steady for 45 minutes is a pretty challenging task, lol.
So, with the excuses out of the way, some of the video is pretty rough, mostly because I'm watching the show, other times because I may be physically switching hands, or repositioning my hand because my fingers were going numb... I also had no idea where I should be pointing the camera, so there's a lot of wide shots. The audio is surprisingly good, considering where I was sitting.
The show is entertaining, with some interesting effects. Riding the carpet above the audience would be a brown pants moment for me. Many of the Genie's jokes have gotten stale over the past 18 years, but that what you get for trying to be edgy, lol.
And finally, the remark by Genie at 40:58 calling Zazu a Tiki Room reject is a laugh out loud moment for any Magic Kingdom visitor...
