We are pleased to introduce Leonie Staas and Dr. Martin Keuppers for this week's talk, which will examine the International Energy Agency (IEA)'s role in the energy transition. This talk will discuss the energy and emissions trends projected by the IEA modelling team, including the changing global energy economy, locked emissions from coal, the volatility of future energy sector, and the role of behavioural changes. The speakers will also talk about the different IEA scenarios and the role of IEA in the energy transition. This will be a good chance to ask questions about these topics.
Leonie is an Energy Analyst at the World Energy Outlook team, where she is focussing on climate impacts and the role of behavioural changes in the energy transition. This includes a focus on the IEA’s Sustainable Development Scenario and the Net Zero Emissions Scenario. She initially joined the IEA as an intern during her Master studies, which she conducted in International Development, focussing on Environment and Energy, at Sciences Po Paris.
Martin is part of the modelling team for the industry sector and geospatial expert for energy access topics within the World Energy Outlook team. Prior to his arrival at the IEA, he worked for more than three years in the central energy system modelling team of Siemens, where he was involved in several internal and external consulting projects. In parallel, he has been working on his doctorate on data-driven modelling approaches. He holds a doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University Darmstadt, Germany.
