Welcome to our channel as we bring you the enchanting ritual of Adhara Pana live from Puri Jagannath Temple.
In this divine ceremony, the sibling deities Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra are offered a sweet drink called Adhara Pana. The beverage, made with milk, cheese, sugar, and spices, is kept in barrel-shaped terracotta urns that almost touch the lips of the deities.
Join us as we witness the breaking of the urns on top of the chariots, symbolizing the offering of the drink to the divine embodiments and the liberation of invisible powers and spirits. The Rath rakshyaks, who guarded the deities during the Rath Yatra (Car Festival), are the recipients of this sacred refreshment.
As the pots are broken, the sweet drink spills over the chariots, allowing the invisible spirits to partake in this divine offering. The servitors, with utmost devotion, hold a new cloth in front of the deities during the ritual.
