The first phase of the Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections 2023 is being held today, November 7, with voting taking place across 20 constituencies. In this initial phase, the fate of 223 candidates, including 25 women, will be decided by an estimated 40,78,681 voters. Key candidates include former Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh from BJP and Mohammad Akbar from the ruling Congress. The elections are being held in two phases, with the second phase scheduled for November 17. To ensure a secure voting process, over 600 polling booths in sensitive areas, particularly in the Naxal-hit Bastar division, have been provided with a three-layered security cover.
