So I finally broke down and spent some coin on a decent set up. After much deliberation, I decided on the Daiwa BG MQ family of reels and paired them with the Temple Fork Outfitters (TFO) 7'6" Professional S medium action rod.
I bought this set up cause I got a discount from Salt Strong. Loaded them with 10# Ande's mono for backing and 150 yards of 10Lb power Pro for main line.
Once they were all set I loaded up the Gheenoe and headed for Pine Island Sound. Fished the Islands out by Cabbage Key, completely new area for me.
Saw some decent Tarpon rolling out just out of the main channel, didnt even attempt to try for one, would have been like bringing a knife to a fun fight...lol
Ended up with the perfect fish to test the drag system, a nice Redfish on top water, Heddon Super Spook Jr.
