A2 English test (GESE Grade 3)
The Trinity A2 GESE Grade 3 exam is a 7-minute speaking and listening test that can be taken at an approved Trinity SELT centre. The test is used to prove your level of English language proficiency and is required when applying for:
UK Visa Extension
Family partner
Family parent visa.
What are A2 English tests used for?
A2 English tests are used to assess the level of English proficiency a person has. The level of English language ability needed for a UK visa application can vary depending on the immigration route. English language test results are needed for the application process for a number of visas so to find out which level you need, it's best to check the UK Government website.
The A2 GESE Grade 3 is a one-to-one speaking and listening test. If you choose to take your exam in a Trinity SELT centre it will take place on a Trinity tablet device which will be set up by your personal steward. These are delivered with Trinity examiners remotely via video conference.
The exam is 7 minutes long and you will have a conversation with the examiner.

A LanguageCert SELT ESOL exam is required for family route Leave to Remain applications after 2.5 years in the UK.
LanguageCert International ESOL SELT A2 Speaking & Listening
A 2-skills (Speaking & Listening) exam in English, aligned to the A2 level of the CEFR*. It is a Secure English Language Test (SELT) for UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) delivered through LanguageCert’s global network of SELT Centres.
About the exam:
Consists of a short conversation online with a live interlocutor

Each candidate is examined individually
