The BSc Midwifery is a full-time four year degree programme offered by the Department of Nursing and Midwifery, University of Limerick in partnership with the Health Service ExecutiveWest (Limerick, Clare and Tipperary North). Clinical Placements will take place in the MidWest and the South East Regions.On successful completion of the programme students will be able to present for registration with An Bord Altranais and practise as a Registered Midwife (R.M.).The Department of Nursing and Midwifery has received approval from An Bord Altranais for the programme. This knowledge will be acquired through the study of midwifery, biological sciences, social sciences and related disciplines.The philosophy of midwifery education is based on a wellness model of women centered holistic care.The programme aims to prepare a component caring research minded analytical and reflective midwife practioner who applies a systematic evidenced based approach to responding creatively and sensitively to the needs of pregnant women and their families. Students will be university based and will have early and balanced exposure to midwifery practice throughout the programme.
