The Dead Sea is perhaps the saltiest body of water on our planet. Water from the Dead Sea is fed almost exclusively from the River Jordan and is subsequently trapped in this giant lake of the mediterrean sea. With nowhere to drain to, the water is forced to evaporate in this extremely dry and hot atmosphere. What remains behind after the water evaporates is all the minerals and salt that were brought in with the seawater. This accumulation of minerals and salt results in what we know as the The Dead Sea today.
The Dead Sea is popular among visitors and locals not just for it's spectacular views, but for the healing properties that arise from the highly concentrated minerals in the water.
If you are visiting Israel, the Dead Sea is an absolute must on your bucket list itinerary.
