Gallery221@HCC hosted a virtual reception and panel discussion on May 21, 2020 for "Warm Up: In Tandem," a solo exhibition by Dominique Labauvie. The event included a panel discussion with featured artist Dominique Labauvie in conversation with Erika Greenberg-Schneider of Bleu Acier Inc., Soprano Esther Labauvie, and Dee Moses, principal double-bass in The Florida Orchestra. The panel was moderated by Amanda Poss, Gallery Director of Gallery221@HCC.
Dominique Labauvie (b. 1948 in Strasbourg, France) is an internationally renowned artist living and working in Tampa, FL. Warm Up: In Tandem, his solo exhibition currently installed in Gallery221@HCC , features a large, site-specific sculpture and a selection of prints published by Bleu Acier Inc. Labauvie’s rigid, yet lyrical lines remind the viewer of the gallery space’s own role as an instrument for artists—a vessel for play and practice as well as a tool for showcasing finished work.
During the reception for "Warm Up: In Tandem," Esther Labauvie and Dee Moses shared a special pre-recorded performance that takes musical cues from the shape and flow of the sculpture.
