We did it!!!
The one where I became a thru-hiker and was met by a surprise guest!
WEATHER: Just right! The sun was shining and a gentle breeze came off the sea cooling each step.
DISTANCE: 10.61 miles
LOCATION: Exceat to Eastbourne! The end of the trail.
SUMMARY
8am a Pete emerges from the footpath at the YHA and then
8.30am - Jason arrives with coffee. I unpack Nellie and now my load is as light as a feather.
We are on our way and we take it in turn to name each sister as we cross over them!
1, Sister Doris
2. Sister Emin
3. Sister Mary. Sea air, calm waters, chalky white cliffs. I feel alive and don’t want this to end.
4. Sister Gwen (after Pete’s mum)
5. 10am a Sister Mavis - I take video footage from the edge. Jason is a bit edgy!
6. 10.17 - Sister Gladys
7. Then the sisters got bigger and we forgot about naming them!
Burling Gap - sausage bap and Jason sprung a leak!
Ice cream and back on our way.
Surprise from Gill Hamilton to say she will join us for the last stretch.
1pm - Made it and did a little dance at the final terminus!
