The Kamkunji Jua Kali was started by detainees of the British Government during the Mau Mau rebellion. The word Jua Kali stands for “fierce Sun", Started with only nine members, 30 years ago, today the Kamkunji Jua Kali consists of about 5000 artisans who are both trained on forging metals making them into useable products such as Sculptures, religious items, utensils weapons and many more. The artisans also depend on metal forging as their source of income and paying their taxes.
