This video shows you how to do the "don tonberry trick" in practice.
The first thing to know about this 'trick' is that it does not need to be done on don tonberry, it isn't an exploit or anything. Using don tonberry is just much handier as he is limitless and you don't have to run around looking for the encounter since it is an arena monster.
What you see me do in the video is set up the overdrives, The person who hits don tonberry needs to be set to stoic, the other 2 to comrade. You only need overdrive to AP on weapons for this to work but it gives much more AP with the set up I use, though alittle more time consuming to obtain but well worth it of course. So; hit with the stoic overdrive character, guard with the other 2. Phoenix them up as many times as you want then flee or kill don tonberry and watch the sphere levels roll in (Y).

I used PCSX2 to play this game. If you see any weird bugs, they are emulation issues I couldn't fix. There are only a few throughout the game.
