American actor, producer, and narrator Morgan Freeman was born on June 1, 1937. He is well-known for both his varied appearances in many different cinema genres and his recognizable deep voice. He has won numerous honors throughout the course of a career spanning more than five decades, including an Academy Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and a Golden Globe Award. The Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award was given to him in 2018, the AFI Life Achievement Award in 2011, the Cecil B. DeMille Award in 2012, and the Kennedy Center Honor in 2008.

Morgan Freeman, who was born in Memphis, Tennessee, was raised in Mississippi, where he started performing in school productions. He pursued theatrical studies in Los Angeles and began his acting career by performing on stage. He became well-known in the 1970s thanks to his part in the kid's TV show The Electric Company. Then Freeman performed in the Shakespearean dramas Julius Caesar and Coriolanus, the former of which won him an Obie Award. He was recognized in 1978 with a Tony Award nomination for his performance as Zeke in Richard Wesley's play The Mighty Gents.

For his work in Clint Eastwood's sports drama Million Dollar Baby (2004), Morgan Freeman later won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He also appeared in Street Smart (1987), Driving Miss Daisy (1989), The Shawshank Redemption (1994), and Invictus (2009), all of which received Oscar nominations. Glory (1989), Lean on Me (1989), Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991), Unforgiven (1992), Se7en (1995), Amistad (1997), Gone Baby Gone (2007), and The Bucket List (2007) are just a few films in which he played notable roles. In Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Trilogy (2005–2012), he also played Lucius Fox. Additionally, he appeared in the action movies Lucy (2014), Now You See Me (2013), Oblivion (2013), Red (2010), and Wanted (2008).
