A painting by Francis Bacon has become the most expensive artwork ever sold at auction after fetching $142 million (£89 million) in New York. The British artist's Three Studies of Lucian Freud sold for $142,405,000 US dollars after just six minutes of bidding in New York. The three-panelled painting created in 1969 depicts the German artist sitting on a chair from three different angles. Report by Lauren Hood.
