China is building a "bigger" second bridge over the strategically important Pangong Tso lake in eastern Ladakh, according to satellite photos and sources familiar with the work.
The bridge is being constructed amid a two-year impasse between Indian and Chinese military in eastern Ladakh.
The Indian military hasn't commented on the new building.
China has been building its military infrastructure after Indian soldiers conquered crucial hills on the southern side of Pangong lake in August 2020.
India is building bridges, roads, and tunnels in border areas to boost military preparation.
China just finished building the area's first bridge.
The new bridge is being constructed over 20 kilometers from the Line of Actual Control, according to the above-mentioned sources (LAC).
Geospatial intelligence specialist Damien Symon uploaded satellite photographs of the new structure on Twitter.
Mr. Symon, who tweets as @detresfa_, claimed a "bigger bridge" is being built parallel to the previous one to "enable greater/heavier military mobility" across the lake.
Mr. Symon's satellite picture shows the bridge being constructed from both sides concurrently for "heavier and bigger water flow.
