In this fourth part of the series we are going to explore the options available in taking transaction log backups and tail log backups. The role they play in restoring to a point in time and how to perform the actual restore operation. We will also look at how to use a stand by file to be able to restore to the previous transaction log file in case the tail log backup is not an option. While performing the restore operation we will explore the new timelines feature available within SSMS and see how we can use it to restore the database to the required point in time easily.
The video is a continuation of the previous part of the series in which we explored how to take differential and full backups and the logic behind the working of these backups. The series will wind up in the next video where we explore how to perform page level restores and how to take file and filegroup backups.
