What tasks does a bookkeeper do each day? Here is a day catching up on client work when I own my own bookkeeping business. I start by completing payroll in Gusto: I sort deposits, categorize by person and use an Excel spreadsheet to calculate commission. Then, I go to my bank feeds and categorize all the new transactions. Finally, I spend a cozy evening putting checks in the QuickBooks Online.
