Earlier this year, I shared how I had a kitchen remodel but I haven’t shared any of the little details besides the new antique/retro Merritt and Okeefe oven!

I had an amazing contractor who essentially took my kitchen measurements and told me he could do anything I wanted, lol.

Tearing out this kitchen came with surprises and was during the dead of winter. A few week project turned into a couple month project, lol. And it just so happened the cabinet installs were on the coldest days of winter. My little wood stove was putting in overtime and I definitely had some cold days in the house - low 50s/high 40s. It was pretty cold and I learned to never do a project in winter again 😂

The spice cabinet and cookie sheet drawers are awesome! Instead of a deep cabinet where I can’t see all of the spices, I have a slim cabinet that I can see everything at a glance. The cookie sheet drawers make storage for those awakened items simple.

My cabinets extend all the way to the ceiling now so I gained a lot of storage space by ripping the soffits out! So happy I did that.

It was recommended to have a built in stool because that space wasn’t going to be used and I would be needing a stool to reach up high now! I love this little fun detail and I definitely use it a lot.

I opted for a bench in the kitchen instead of extra counter space. There is a little window and I thought it would be fun to have a bench for people to sit or kiddos to hang out on.

These are just a few of the little details in my kitchen. I couldn’t be happier with it! Truly, it has become my dream kitchen and I don’t think I’ll ever need another. The only thing I’m missing is a retro fridge!

My before kitchen was only about half functional. Dead appliances built in that were taking up space, counter space that couldn’t be used, and the insides of cabinets that had the residue of 70 years of living that were not well taken care of…among other things.

I feel like my kitchen has grown. It actually has too because I have some cabinets and drawers that are sitting empty 🙌🏻
