There is only one autograph manuscript of this sonata, dated between 1717 and 1720. Although to date it has been catalogued as anonymous, if we compare its last movement with the first of the violin concerto in D major JunP I.5 by Pisendel we soon begin to suspect that both were written by the same hand. Careful listening and, above all, analysis of the two works point to an undeniable link between the two compositions. Clearly, Pisendel is using the material of his concerto in his sonata, just as he did with his sonata in D major and his violin concerto JunP I1.7, a highly significant fact in such a small catalogue of compositions.
