I'm not a huge fan of driving, but renting a car and driving is the best way to see a place like Costa Rica. This video walks you through what it's like to rent a car from SJO (San Jose's airport).

I'll show you what kind of car you should rent, what it's like to get gas, and the challenges you'll face while driving in Costa Rica.

Maybe most importantly, I found drivers in Costa Rica (especially outside San Jose) to be very patient and relaxed!
