JustAnswer Customer: Hello.
JustAnswer Customer: I would like to know how to bypass a faulty Smeg oven timer.
JustAnswer Customer: I have a picture of the offending timer hanging out of the facia if that helps.
JustAnswer Customer: Thanks, Mike
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: What's the make and model of your oven?
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: And can you guesstimate how old it is?
JustAnswer Customer: It's a Smeg SUK62MFX5.
JustAnswer Customer: Date on timer suggests 2005,but I can't be sure.
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
JustAnswer Customer: I think I can handle it.
JustAnswer Customer: Other advice on your site for similar faults suggest that a couple of wires need to be joined to do the bypass.
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: Anything else we should know to help you best?
JustAnswer Customer: I have that picture if it would help you.
Daniel: Home Appliance Technician: Hi, I'm Daniel welcome to JustAnswer, Im reviewing your question now and will post back with your reply momentarily
Daniel: Home Appliance Technician: If you could post a picture of the back of the timer along with the wiring that would be great please.
JustAnswer Customer: I hope it's attached.
Daniel: Home Appliance Technician: Thanks for that.
Daniel: Home Appliance Technician: Ive marked it on your pictures which wires to join to bypass.
Daniel: Home Appliance Technician: Its the white and black wires so just click the link below and you can see it.
JustAnswer Customer: That seems to have done the trick!
JustAnswer Customer: Both wires are also disconnected from the timer.
JustAnswer Customer: It still flashes, but if I remove the red wire it doesn't.
JustAnswer Customer: Would I be right in thinking that all wires can remain disconnected from the timer unit?
Daniel: Home Appliance Technician: The other white wire and red wire is just the live and neutral feed for the time so if you dont what the time flashing then just remove one of the wires and that will turn the clock off from there.
JustAnswer Customer: Cool!
JustAnswer Customer: I'm guessing that the oven thermostat is elsewhere, as the temperature regulation seems unaffected.
Daniel: Home Appliance Technician: Yes the oven will have its own thermostat that controls the temperture regulator in there.
JustAnswer Customer: Thanks Daniel.
JustAnswer Customer: You're a star!
JustAnswer Customer: Five stars actually!
JustAnswer Customer: Job done.
JustAnswer Customer: Goodnight.
Daniel: Home Appliance Technician: Your very welcome.
