This reading and writing lesson is one part of our complete Persian language course. Lessons 1-25 of reading and writing are available on our website ([ Ссылка ]). By the end of the course, you will be able to read and write in the Persian language. We also have over 80 lessons that teach you conversational Persian ([ Ссылка ]). In those lessons, we use phonetic English spelling, so you don't have to be able to read and write Persian before learning to speak it conversationally!
In this lesson, we focus on a new letter, ق which is pronounced 'ghé'. This is one of two sounds countained in the Persian language that do not occur in the English language. The koocheek version of ق is similar to the letter we learned in the last lesson, ف, but with two dots above instead of one. The bozorg version, in addition to the difference in dot size, is slightly different. We learn how this letter interacts with our vowel sounds, and use it to write different words such as
قَند ghand (sugar cube)
قُنداق ghondāg (swaddle)
قوری ghooree (kettle)
