Joseph Dituri, who goes by the alias 'Dr Deep Sea', has broken the record for longest time living underwater without depressurisation after 74 days.

He began his stay at a Florida Keys lodge for scuba divers on 1 March and plans to stay there until 1 June. The mission, which combines medical and ocean research with educational outreach, was organised by the Marine Resources Development Foundation, owner of the habitat. The researcher conducts daily experiments in physiology to test how the human body responds to long-term extreme pressure.
