The GIZ Water and Sanitation Sector Programme (PROSECEAU) aims to provide poor households in urban and rural areas with safe, clean and hygienic drinking water and sanitation in Burundi.

During its last phase (2018 – 2021), the programme’s implementation area includes 3 provinces (Rumonge, Bururi and Mwaro) covering 15 communes in urban and rural Burundi. PROSECEAU intervenes in 3 main areas: water quality protection, performance improvement of the national water service provider (REGIDESO), and drinking water access in rural areas. This video explains these 3 objectives in detail, and presents locals describing the different activities carried out by the programme to improve the water quality, and the impact it had on their families and community.
