Unusual and rare SD9 Locomotive Working CSX interchange for Indiana Eastern Railroad. After switching the small railroad yard in Cottage Grove, Indiana, the train got back on Indiana Eastern RR tracks and headed south toward Fernald, Ohio. 6 tank cars were taken almost 30 miles to Neace Corporation at the end of the line. This and one other customer are the only customers on this line south of Cottage Grove but the tracks are in great shape with welded rail and thick ballast. This is an old Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad line. I had too much footage for one video so there will be a second part to this. The train got approval to foul the CSX mainline by talking to the dispatcher on 160.320 and used 160.230 while switching in Cottage Grove. After crossing the CSX diamond and leaving Cottage Grove they switched over to 160.965 for the remainder of their work. The SD9 is being used temporarily due to mechanical issues on the normal unit. The branch running north from Cottage Grove only has one customer, a recycling company. Filmed June 24, 2019. Thanks for watching! Please comment, rate and SUBSCRIBE TO JAWTOOTH!!
