J.S.Bach Suite for cello G, Menuet I, Menuet II, Gigue
The basic instrument of the Polish folk music is a violin. Since modern violin is a relatively new element in the folk music, Maria Pomianowska with Ewa Dahlig and Andrzej Kuczkowski in 1993 decided to revive the distinct past time tradition, namely instruments played using a so-called fingernail technique, including suka from Bilgoraj, (Bilgoray suka) which survived until the end of the 19th C. 16th C. fiddle from Plock. The 6-string Plock fiddle was excavated in 1985. The uniqueness of this instrument can be seen in the form of the bridge, which has two unequal legs, as well as the very primary construction, close to medieval instruments (no fingerboard, no tailpiece). The 4-string suka has been reconstructed on the base of iconographic sources ( water -paint from XIX C), since no specimen of the instrument had survived until the modern days. Contemporary reconstruction of playing technique was possible, thanks to the long and profound experiences of Maria Pomianowska with instruments from India, Mongolia, Middle East , Far East and cello.
