One of my viewers referred me to a video from the channel Like Stories of Old. That video discussed the purpose of narratives as providing a source of vicarious purpose and meaningfulness. In this video essay I disagree and layout an alternative conception of the purpose of narrative as most fundamentally providing a space for thought experiments and an exercise for our mind's ability to extrapolate.
