The EU is investing 5.8 billion euros in Rail Baltica, a transformative railway project that will enhance the security and connectivity of the Baltic states. This extensive standard gauge railway will be the first of its kind in the Baltics, linking the region's economy more closely with the rest of the EU and Western Europe. Featuring seven international passenger stations and three multimodal freight terminals, it will integrate seamlessly with the existing Russian gauge rail system. Rail Baltica promises numerous benefits, including reduced travel times, safer journeys, improved EU integration, job creation, and enhanced security for the Baltic states. Currently in the design phase and nearing construction, Rail Baltica is slated to open to the public between 2028 and 2030, poised to significantly transform the region.
