How do you bring back to life a lost song? French chanteuse and actress Alice Taglioni joined in the studio legendary composer Philippe Sarde to finally record “La Maison sur la plage”, an unpublished song by French maestro and lyricist Jean-Loup Dabadie.

The song was originally composed for the voice of Romy Schneider to be included in César et Rosalie, the 1972 romantic film starring the German-French diva and actress alongside Yves Montand. The track, though, was never recorded and thought forever lost.

After more than 50 years, Sarde experienced the joy of seeing it finally taking shape, when Alice Taglioni lent her voice to make the magic happen.

“La Maison sur la plage” is now included in Romy Schneider, Un Portrait Musical the CAM Sugar and Decca Records France collection celebrating the artistic bond between Philippe Sarde, Romy Schneider and director Claude Sautet, featuring for the first time the complete soundtracks of their 4 collaborative films. Comment faire revivre une chanson perdue ? La chanteuse et comédienne Alice Taglioni rejoint en studio le légendaire compositeur Philippe Sarde pour enregistrer enfin La Maison sur la plage, une chanson inédite du maestro français, sur des paroles de Jean-Loup Dabadie.

À l’origine, la chanson a été écrite pour la voix de Romy Schneider, sur le thème de César et Rosalie, la comédie romantique de 1972, interprétée par l’actrice franco-allemande, aux côtés d’Yves Montand. Mais la chanson n’a jamais été enregistrée, au point d’être considérée comme perdue à jamais.
