Daniels III to discuss Dr. Daniels's journey that led him into education, his views on leadership, how best to cultivate teams, and his thoughts on future planning and how to balance short- and long-term goals.
Guest Bio
Dr. Jack E. Daniels, III has more than 40 years of higher education experience, ranging from community and technical colleges to graduate institutions. He has served in a variety of roles from professor to dean to college president. During his term as president of Madison Area Technical College, he has established a shared governance environment focused on respect and valuing contributions of faculty, staff, and students, reshaped how the college responds to its diverse communities, and has guided the college’s transformation into a culture that values equity and inclusion.
Dr. Daniels led the campaign to construct the Goodman South Campus on Madison’s South side in 2019. The campus provides access to educational and community resources to the city’s most underserved populations. Under his leadership, Madison College has developed numerous high school academies and workforce training programs, initiated development of transfer agreements with HBCUs, supported development of guaranteed transfer programs with public and private colleges and universities, led development of the college’s Promise Program, and has supported numerous infrastructure projects to improve learning spaces to better support student success.
He has been named one of the most influential African Americans in Wisconsin by Madison 365. Additional honors include the Phi Theta Kappa Shirley B. Gordon Award of Distinction and Campus Compact’s Eduardo J. Padron Award for Institutional Transformation. Dr. Daniels holds a Ph.D. from the Wright Institute Graduate School of Psychology in Berkeley, Calif.
