In this video we show you how we take a cleaned crankshaft and start the inspection process. It's all about measuring and making sure that everything straight.
First we use a dial indicator to check the propeller flange runout to make sure it isn't bent. Then check the intermediate and rear main journals for runout. Finally, we use a micrometer to measure the main bearing journals and crankpin journals to determine whether or not they are within the manufacturers serviceable limits.
**This video is intended only as an example of the inspection process and should not be used as a primary instruction. See the manufacturers instructions for continued airworthiness.
We hope you enjoy our videos, thanks for watching!
