Discovering the south side of Ubud by e-bike.
Manu Gowes visits Mambal area, just south of Ubud.
I cycle with my e=bike through several authentic Balinese villages with not a tourist in sight. A lot of beautiful rice paddies and flower fields, jungle & bamboo forest, alongside rivers and dams… fantastic views and nature all around.
My friend Albert Kok and I also did the e-bike tour from “Green Bikes Bali” which they offer daily in this area and we both really enjoyed it. We met a lot of locals and saw a very un-touristy side of Bali.
For lunch, we had a picnic in the rice fields and we ate a traditional Balinese meal consisting of Ayam Betutu, lawar and sate lilit. The beer we drank with it was a very nice Singaraja beer (locally brewed in Bali).
