This video shows the procedure for obtaining evidence of convergent validity through the correlation coefficient. In order to exemplify this, the score of the 'Daytime problems' subscale of the Athens Insomnia Scale (AIS) is correlated with the total score of the Insomnia Diurnal Impact Scale (IDIS).
This same procedure could be used to obtain evidence of discriminant validity, bearing in mind that it would be necessary to correlate the AIS (or one of its subscales) with the measurement of another construct that is little or not at all related to insomnia.
