Malaysia is the second largest global palm oil producer. However, a vast amount of biomass waste is produced from the oil palm industry as well as from plantations. These wastes are high with lignocellulosic properties which can be utilized to produce value-added products. It can be a waste-to-wealth approach and long-term sustainability in terms of economy and environment can be accomplished. One of the potential products is the Oil Palm Trunk Activated Carbon (OPTAC) which can be synthesized from the old oil palm trunk. It can be used to treat wastewater with proper and detailed research.
