Tokugawa Ieyasu (1543-1616) was one of the most important shoguns in the history of Japan. The founder of the Tokugawa shogunate, he completed the unification of the country after years of internal conflicts. His victory at the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600 was crucial in consolidating his power.
