If you want to see real authentic Ukrainian traditions (and understand why Ukraine is not ruzzia, and why there is a cultural and mental gap between us), you need to go to the Carpathians. This is recommended to you by your blond who has never been to this region until last week.) You may ask why you have never travelled to the Carpathians. I always thought it was very expensive there, and if I had a choice of where to go to the sea or the mountains, I always chose the sea. During the war the Carpathians became the safest place in Ukraine and everything is really expensive there. At least for me, an ordinary university teacher from Kyiv. Ruzzian drones and missiles don't fly there, you won't hear air raid sirens and sounds of explosions there.... Many internally displaced people moved there in search of a peaceful life. Many Ukrainians are trying to go there even for a week to live a NORMAL life without war. Last week I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown, either because of the constant lack of sleep due to the nightly ruzzian attacks or the thoughts of the coming horrible winter. My Ukrainian soldier friends, who were travelling to the Carpathians for rehabilitation, offered to go with them and my kids and I went for 2 days. We lived in a partially restored old house in the mountains. The owners of this house are volunteers who help Ukrainian soldiers, widows and children who have lost their parents to the war.
Sorry for the possibly illogical and incoherent narrative, I just wanted to share with you all that I saw during these 2 days.
Thank you for your help and support. NGU.
