쿠데타 수단 군부, 비상사태 선포…"2023년 7월 총선"
The military of Sudan has started an apparent coup... dissolving civilian rule, arresting political leaders, and calling for a state of emergency.
General Abdel Fattah Burhan, who had been heading a joint council with civilian leaders, blamed political infighting in Sudan.
In response, the opponents of his military rule took to the streets where gunfight broke out... injuring at least 12 people so far.
In a televised address, the general said infighting between politicians, ambition and incitement to violence had forced him to act... to protect the safety of the nation and to (quote) "rectify the revolution's course."
He said Sudan was still committed to "international accords" and the transition to civilian rule, with elections planned for July 2023.
