STORYLINE:
The jury in the murder trial of Alex Murdaugh visited Murdaugh’s home Wednesday, including the kennel area where his wife and son were found shot to death in 2021.
Pool reporters also toured the property, but were not in sight of the jury.
The property has stood vacant for 20 months and the grass is high.
There was little sign of the killings in the kennel’s feed room where the deaths occurred. An apparent bullet hole could be seen in a quail house in the kennel area.
Closing arguments are also being held Wednesday in Murdaugh’s trial.
More than 75 witnesses have been called and about 800 photographs, reports and exhibits have been presented as evidence.
Prosecutors say Murdaugh killed his family to gain sympathy and buy time to hide his financial crimes. But prosecutors don't have direct evidence like the weapons used in the killings, a confession, video surveillance or bloody clothes.
