David Allen MW, Wine-Searcher's Wine Director, tastes Gaia Agiorgitiko 2019 from Nemea in honor of St George’s Day (23rd April 2022).
Agiorgitiko means "St George's Grape", and probably takes its named from a chapel in Nemea. It is thought to be one of Greece's oldest varieties.
Gaia have owned a vineyard and winery in the Koutsi region of Nemea on the Peloponnese peninsula since 1996. Here they produce a portfolio of wines from the Agiorgitiko grape variety.
